How Hackers Use Open Wi-Fi to Breach Protected Networks

On-Demand

Wi-Fi networks, while convenient, can be abused by hackers to identify and attack devices belonging to employees of important organizations. Besides just hacking employee endpoint devices, hackers can even crack the Wi-Fi password to the office itself just from being near an employee's smartphone.

“Hacking with Friends” host, Kody Kinzie, demos how hackers use stealthy tactics like half-handshake attacks to steal Wi-Fi passwords, seize control of devices, and redirect employees of high-value organizations to malware phishing sites.

About this webinar

Watch a hacker target a company employee at a conference to crack their employer’s network password, intercept their internet connection through a fake access point, and direct the user to a malicious site to steal sensitive data.

During this demo, we will:
  • Use OSINT to find the Wi-Fi names of high-value businesses and create fake versions of that network to identify nearby employees
  • Capture and crack a Wi-Fi handshake from any nearby device trying to connect to our fake company network
  • Identify open Wi-Fi networks the target has joined before (like a conference or coffee shop) and force their device to connect to a fake version of the same network
  • Seize control of the target device & redirect traffic to malware phishing sites
