Parental and Paternity Leave

Approved Reasons for Leave

  • birth or adoption of an employee’s child under eighteen (18) years of age; and
  • To attend school conferences or school-related activities related to an employee’s child, provided the conference or school-related activities cannot be scheduled during non-work hours.

Eligible Employee

  • An active full-time or part-time employee
  • Employed by Varonis for at least twelve (12) consecutive months

Length of Parental Leave Under the MPLA

  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave for employees that have given birth
  • 1 week of paternity leave for eligible employees

Substitution of Paid Leave

  • An employee taking parental leave may, at the employee’s option, exhaust any accrued and unused paid vacation, personal leave or paid time off before continuing any approved MPLA leave on an unpaid basis.
  • Any parental leave taken under this Policy (either paid or unpaid) will be counted toward the 6-week maximum (or, for school and activity purposes, sixteen (16) hours in a 12-month period) amount of leave available under the MPLA.

Employee Notification Requirements

  • The employee should notify the Insperity Leave and Disability Group of the intention to take leave at least thirty (30) days in advance of the expected leave by completing a Leave of Absence Request form.
  • If the need for leave is not foreseeable, the employee must provide notification of leave to the Insperity Leave and Disability Group as soon as feasibly possible.
  • If the employee fails to give notice as required above, the employee may also be subject to Varonis’ established absenteeism and tardiness policies, or other like policies, with violation of the same resulting in possible disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Benefits Continuation

  • The same health care benefits coverage provided to an employee on the day prior to taking parental leave under the MPLA will be maintained for up to the 6-week leave period, or as otherwise required by law, provided the employee continues to pay any required contribution for benefits.

Job Restoration

  • An employee will be returned to the same or comparable position when the employee returns from parental leave under this Policy, unless the position has been eliminated, with no loss of benefits accrued prior to leave.
  • If an employee is returning from a leave of absence of longer than one month, he or she must notify a supervisor at least two (2) weeks prior to the employee’s return from leave.
  • If an employee’s position has been eliminated while the employee is out on leave, then he or she will be returned to a position equivalent in nature to the employee’s former position.
  • An employee who does not return to work at the end of an authorized leave is subject to termination of employment.
  • In the event an employee’s position with Varonis is affected by a decision or event not related to the employee’s leave of absence, e.g., job elimination due to a reduction in force, the employee will be affected to the same extent as if he or she was not on leave.
